Host a Socktober Sock Drive

This October, help us fill the shelves at Fostering Community with one of our most-requested essentials: new socks for children and youth in foster care.

Through Socktober, businesses, schools, churches, community groups, clubs, and individuals can host a sock drive and help make sure local children have clean, comfortable socks when they need them.

What We’re Collecting

We are collecting new socks in all sizes, including:

• Infant and toddler socks

• Children’s socks

• Teen socks

• Adult-size socks for older youth

Every pair collected will help stock the Fostering Community Foster Care Closet, where foster and kinship families can access needed clothing and essentials for the children in their care.

How to Host a Socktober Drive

1. Sign Up to Host
   Click here to fill out the form to participate in Socktober and host a sock drive at your business, school, church, workplace, or organization.

2. Set Up Your Collection Spot
   Choose a visible place for your Socktober collection bin. We can provide signage and promotional materials to help you get started.

3. Spread the Word
   Invite your employees, students, customers, congregation, friends, or community members to bring in new socks throughout October.

4. Collect Those Socks!
   Watch your collection grow and encourage your group to see just how many pairs you can gather.

5. Help Us Fill the Closet
   At the end of your drive, donations can be delivered to Fostering Community or we can pick them up from your organization.

Socks may seem simple, but for a child entering foster care with very few belongings, having something new that is completely their own can matter.

By hosting a Socktober drive, your group can meet a practical need while showing children and families in our community that they are surrounded by people who care.
