Foster Care Closet

When we become involved in the foster care system, we realized that the needs were vast and the resources were few. At the same time, we were discussing the needs with people in the community and realized that many people wanted to help, but know how. We created The Foster Care Closet to give our community a tangible way to serve children in foster care and their foster families. The Foster Care Closet or "FCC" is free resources and serves children ages newborn to 21 years. Most children who enter foster care arrive with only the clothing on their back. Their foster families are able to visit the FCC and receive clothing, shoes, school uniforms, books, a bible, cribs, car seats, beds, baby gear and more. If you want to help children in foster care, we'd love for you to be a part of our "Foster Care Closet Family"! Please visit our Facebook Page for more info.

The Foster Care Closet is located in The First United Methodist Church of Alexandria.
2727 Jackson Street Alexandria, LA 71301 Enter the church parking lot from Jackson Street.  Look for a sign outside
above the entrance that says “kitchen”. When you go in that entrance, The Foster Care Closet is the first room on the left.

If you want to serve children in foster care, we'd love for you to volunteer at The Foster Care Closet. Volunteers sort donations and pack bags for children in foster care. Our employee Carmen will work along side you as you volunteer to show you what to do. Please click here to sign up for a volunteer shift.

We love donations! We accept very gently used clothing from newborn to teen sizes, shoes, cribs, and baby gear. We cannot take adult clothing or household items. Donations must be from a smoke free home, freshly laundered with no holes or stains. Please visit our facebook page to learn more.
