There are almost half a million children in Foster Care across the U.S.. Almost 100,000 are legally freed for adoption and are waiting to meet their forever families. Currently, There are 653 children in Louisiana who are available for adoption in the foster care system. Over 100 are waiting to be matched with a forever family. In 2015, we partnered with Louisiana Heart Gallery and started photographing these children to help raise awareness and to help match waiting children with forever families. These images are used statewide and nationally in the online databases for children waiting for adoption. In 2016, we started our own branch of The Louisiana Heart Gallery in Central Louisiana and set up our first display. The display is a traveling photographic wall of children who are available for adoption from foster care.

We display The Louisiana Heart Gallery at churches and events in Central Louisiana. In addition to our traveling display, we established a permanent Heart Gallery of waiting children from our region at our local DCFS.  We team up with adoption recruiters, photographers, and videographers to create photos and videos of waiting children. Louisiana Heart Gallery also partners with America’s Kids Belong and The Robertson Family of Duck Dynasty to create videos of waiting children. Photography, videography, and displaying portraits of the children in The Louisiana Heart Gallery is an ongoing project. As a result of these efforts, our local DCFS has seen a much-needed influx of new foster families and we have matched waiting children with adoptive families throughout the state.

We'd love to display The Louisiana Heart Gallery at your church or organization.
